Unique Employment Services are excited to be recruiting 4x Orthotic Technicians, for our well-established footwear manufacturer Client in Wellingborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with general manufacturing experience, with good eye to hand coordination, to learn a new skill, or for someone with previous footwear manufacturing experience, looking for a fresh role within a family-feel team!

We are recruiting a technician for each of their four departments. However, all four technicians will have the following general requirements in their role;

-Ability to work on their own innovative, and as part of a team

-Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic devices, according to Company quality, and quantity standards

-Good communication skills

-Knowledge and hand skills, needed to fabricate and repair orthoses, according to patient measurements, casts and in compliance with a customer’s prescription.

-Mechanical ability, and hand-eye coordination, to use workshop tools safely and effectively.

-Effective organisational, time management, and planning skills

-To maintain a safe, clean and orderly working environment

-Liaise with fellow technicians and management, to achieve best orthotic outcomes

-Good hand/eye coordination, along with excellent attention to detail

The four specific roles we have are as followed;

Footwear Adaptions and Repairs – This role requires the manufacture and repair of sole units, to individual specifications. Some footwear manufacturing or shoe repair experience is preferred, but if you have a good practical attitude, and are willing to learn a variety of skills, training will be given.

Last Model Making – This interesting role involves the building up, and manufacture of the shoe last, to specific measurements. Attention to detail, with good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to translate measurements are required. Some experience preferred, but training will be given to suitable candidates.

Hand Lasting – This role involves pulling the upper onto the last by hand, using traditional methods. If you have experience of hand lasting, or would be interested in learning this traditional skill, we would like to hear from you.

Orthotics Plastic Technician – This role involves the manufacture of moulded orthotics, to plaster of paris casts. Previous experience would be beneficial. Knowledge of cast rectification, moulding of materials and finishing.

All positions require attention to detail, good hand to eye coordination, and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Flexibility of approach is essential, with good problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate and work as part of a team.

Experience in any of the above is desirable, but the roles may also suit candidates from other industries with experience in converting raw material into finished products, using craft tools and scouring/grinding machinery.

 

Your working week would be:

Monday - Thursday 07.30 - 16.30

Friday 07.30 - 12.30

Possible overtime available, at time and a half.

You will be given 1x 30 min lunch break, and 2x 10 min tea breaks ALL PAID.

Pay rate is £8.00-£9.00 per hour, depending on experience.

THIS IS A TEMP-PERM POSITION.

Salary will be £17,000-£25,00 DOE once permanent contract has been given.
